How to add new fields or modify existing fields of a stack type

Overview

What are stack types & how do they help?

Stack types are a group of related documents that share the same indexing information. You can stack together documents related to a particular client, project, month, etc, to index & find them more easily. For example: If you create a stack called ‘client’, you will be able to create a separate stack of documents for every client. You can then categorize your stacks based on metadata like ‘client name, ‘address’, ‘contact number’, ‘email ID’, etc, and you can also link documents related to each client with their respective stack, like ‘invoices’, ‘purchase history’, ‘emails’, ‘ID documents’, etc, for easier retrieval.

How to add new fields or modify existing fields of a stack type?

Before adding or modifying a field, you need to ensure:

Your user ID has ‘Manage DB Schema’ privileges

No other user is logged into the GLOBODOX account

To add a new field: Double click on the stack type you want to add the field to, go to the fields tab, click on ‘Click here to add a new field’ and give your field a name & select it’s field type.

To modify an existing field: Repeat the process till you reach the fields tab, and then simply edit the name of any field to your liking.

Note: You cannot modify the field type of any existing field. If you want to modify the field type, you will have to delete the field & create it again. But deleting the field will also delete all data related to that field from GLOBODOX.
